To re-engineer herself, Yan pivoted from a career in commodities trading to a career in tech. This journey took her from Singapore to San Francisco where she became a software engineer at Ayasdi, a machine learning startup in Silicon Valley. After co-founding and serving as CTO of a coding bootcamp in Jordan, which was developed to help refugees, Yan started Code Chrysalis in Tokyo in 2017. Born in China and raised in Seattle. Yan is a graduate of Dartmouth College with degrees in Economics and Arabic.

To re-engineer himself, Kani worked as an executive at EMC (now Dell EMC), Greenplum, and Pivotal Labs. Kani helped industry leaders transform the way they build software, drive customer success, innovate, and disrupt businesses across industries in multiple geographies.

As a Global Operating and Management Executive, Steve achieved successful hands-on, turn-around, and start-up operations at numerous international enterprises. He is also well experienced at exit strategies including IPO, M&A and sell-offs. Of the twelve companies he managed, eleven turned profitable, and two went on to IPO. The single company that did not turn profitable during his tenure became profitable shortly after he left, and was successfully acquired by a corporate giant. To re-engineer himself he assumed the role of Managing Director at Code Chrysalis where he successfully ensured the stability and growth of the company.Steve graduated from Hitotsubashi University with a degree in Business Administration, and worked for Sumitomo Corporation in Tokyo, New York, Los Angeles and Auckland. For 20 years, Steve has been active as a Founder and CEO of an NPO promoting women’s empowerment and gender equality. He has published four books.

Jill started with Code Chrysalis in 2019. Prior to her role as Chief Strategy Officer, Jill was the Chief Technology Officer where she led the curriculum, product, and engineering functions of the company, with an emphasis on localization projects. To re-engineer herself as Chief Strategy Officer, Jill leads and sets the strategic direction for the business. She is passionate about global women’s issues and has broad international experience in Japan, Saudi Arabia, New Zealand, and the UK. Jill is originally from the United States.

Blake worked in the U.S. at Microsoft as a Software Engineer from 2006 to 2011 before joining Google, where he specialized in backend services and later worked on Chrome and Chrome OS in Tokyo. He also manages a social network he built in PHP and enjoys creating programming languages. His expertise spans C, C++, C#, Java, Python, PHP, and more.

He previously worked at Lockheed Martin Canada and at NTT in Japan, contributing to machine learning research. Brendan holds a B.Sc. in Computer Engineering from the University of Alberta and an M.A. in Software Engineering from the University of Aizu, where he published research on LLMs in programming education. He enjoys hiking, squash, and developing personal programming projects.

As a software engineer, he has contributed to companies like Javco, Daizen, Find a Doc, and Xpress AI. A life- long learner, Will is deeply interested in sports (especially baseball), gaming, and all things tech.

He has authored several books, including Goomics and The Crab and the Lamb.
