How can we help you?

Do you offer housing or dormitories?

While Code Chrysalis doesn’t offer student housing, we can help international students find short-term apartments and share houses in Tokyo.

Most of our international students arrange their own short-term housing, and we’ll point you toward resources, recommendations, and popular options.

Our campus is in Moto-Azabu, near Roppongi in central Tokyo - a lively, upscale area with excellent train access but also some of the city’s highest rent.

Thankfully, you don’t have to live right next door. With the Hibiya Line and Oedo Line nearby, you can easily commute from more affordable neighborhoods along those lines:

  • Minami-Senju (Hibiya Line): Older, quiet area with Tokyo’s lowest rents. ~35 min to campus.
  • Kita-Senju (Hibiya Line): A busy, well-connected hub with lots of share houses. ~35 min ride.
  • Ningyocho / Kodenmacho (Hibiya Line): Close to central Tokyo but more affordable. 10–15 min commute.
  • Monzen-Nakacho / Kiyosumi-Shirakawa (Oedo Line): Charming, less touristy areas 15–17 min away.
  • Nakano-Sakaue / Nishi-Shinjuku (Oedo Line): Residential and centrally located. ~15 min ride.

Tokyo trains are clean, reliable, and fast. A 20–35 minute commute is typical and lets you explore a different side of the city while saving on rent.

For a 3-month stay, most students opt for share houses, guesthouses, or furnished short-term apartments. These are flexible, budget-friendly, and require little to no upfront fees.

  • Share Houses: Private bedroom + shared kitchen/living areas. Social, furnished, and affordable. Popular providers include Sakura House and Oakhouse. Expect ¥50,000–¥90,000/month.
  • Guesthouses: Similar to share houses, but geared toward short-term stays for foreigners. Some are dorm-style, others private rooms. Flexible contracts, typically no deposit or key money.
  • Serviced Apartments: Private furnished studios, often with Wi-Fi and utilities included. Great if you want more privacy. Prices start around ¥90,000/month.
  • Budget Hotels/Hostels: Okay for very short stays, but usually not ideal for a full 3-month program.

Here are some trusted platforms to start with:

You can reserve most places online before arriving in Japan. We recommend booking 4–6 weeks before the program starts, especially for summer/fall terms.
