What is the Precourse?

The Precourse is a self-paced program that every admitted student completes before starting the Immersive Bootcamp.

There’s a lot to cover in twelve weeks, so think of the Precourse as your official warm-up for the Immersive. It’s designed to strengthen your JavaScript fundamentals, sharpen your problem-solving skills, and get you comfortable with essential tools like Git, the command line, and GitHub.

The Precourse typically starts about two months before your Immersive cohort begins. You’ll work through five self-paced units that cover functional programming, recursion, object-oriented principles, and DOM manipulation. Along the way, you’ll complete quizzes and coding assignments.

But it’s not just about code. You’ll also develop key habits like time management, clear communication, and asking thoughtful questions. Plan to spend 15–25 hours per week, depending on your experience. You’ll submit your work through GitHub and receive feedback from our team to help you stay on track.

To join the Immersive, all Precourse assignments must be completed by the final deadline - but don’t worry. You won’t be doing this alone. We’re here to support you every step of the way.
