yamaneco Scholarship for Women + LGBTQ

We are excited to announce the yamaneco Scholarship and Internship for Women and LGBTQ+.

yamaneco is providing one full scholarship to the upcoming Code Chrysalis Immersive Bootcamp in starting January 6th, 2020. For the first time, this scholarship will provide an opportunity to work for yamaneco after graduation.

About yamaneco

yamaneco (http://www.yamaneco.co.jp/) is a Tokyo-based agile, devOps and design coaching startup. We work closely with Japanese and international organizations to install the agile, engineering and design processes they need to do agile self-sufficiently. With our coaching, we inspire different thinking. With our engineering, we build best-in-class mobile applications designed to engage and excite users. We're looking for junior mobile Android and iOS engineers to join our team and be a part of our culture of fun and learning!

Who is eligible?

Anyone who...
  • Identifies as one or more of the following:
  • woman
  • LGBTQ
  • Is able to pass the Code Chrysalis technical assessment by the deadline
  • Is able to fully attend the Code Chrysalis January 2020 Immersive Bootcamp
  • (For those who need Japanese work visa sponsorship) Has a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent degree

Current Immersive students and those who are already enrolled for a future Immersive are not eligible for this scholarship.

What does the scholarship cover?

yamaneco will provide full tuition of ¥1,133,000 (10% tax inclusive) for the January 2020 cohort. The scholarship includes a guaranteed 9-month paid internship for yamaneco after graduation. Compensation during the paid internship will be between ¥200,000 - ¥300,000 JPY per month. The winner can decide whether or not they would like to become a full-time employee after the internship. If they do, they will be offered a full-time position with a pay raise.

Should the candidate leave either the Immersive Bootcamp or their internship during the nine months, they must pay back the scholarship in full unless in extenuating circumstances (suddenly returning home, etc.) of which we'll discuss terms together to come to a fair resolution. Should we let the candidate go, there will be no penalty on the candidate.

How do I apply?

Apply to the Code Chrysalis Immersive as you normally would. During the interview, let us know that you would like to be considered for the scholarship.
